Greetings from sunny Miami! It took a few days of poolside bliss, but my hands have finally defrosted from DC’s frigid early winter arrival — I had nearly forgotten what it feels like to text outside with ease. Now that I’m finally back in my element (shorts, tank tops, sandals) and relaxed, I’ve had plenty of time to dig for some sweet tunes to get you through that last stretch to holiday cheer.
There’s quite a mix of sounds here, but they’ll all put you in a happy, festive mood!
It’s almost Thanksgiving, which means most people only need to get through one more work day before a long weekend of pure bliss. Though I’ll be sticking around the District this year instead of heading down to sunny Miami, I’m looking forward to the leisurely days ahead with my friends.
This week’s tracks bring an eclectic mix of sounds, but nothing too heavy. After spending five straight hours listening to heavy Moombahton beats and bass-pounding electro at Dillon Francis last weekend, I was searching for tracks with slower beats per minute and more delicate melodies.
I’ve also included Tchami’s mix for Diplo & Friends. If you aren’t familiar with him, he’s a French DJ who consistently delivers sexy sets, always dressed as a priest. This mix flawlessly jumps from deep house to funk and heavy electro to trap, with plenty of body grooving progressive house in between.
UPDATE: Just heard this mini mix, and fell in love.
Tuesdays are a drag, especially when your phone tells you that it “feels like” 17 degrees outside. To counter the feelings associated with this meh day, I’ll be dedicating Tuesdays to music that will have you bouncing in your chair and feeling good vibes all day. This week I’ve included Cash Cash, Autograf, and Twice as Nice remixes, a two-hour Gorgon City radio show, and some A$AP Ferg. Get at it:
